Sassy Soul Poet

Poetry is life running through our veins

Offering a vessel for healing pains

Every word has rhyme and reason

Truth and wisdom joining us all

Rhythm is the song singing to our soul

You are special and not alone

Welcome to Sassy Soul Poet’s whimsical world! I'm so excited to share my journey with you.

As a teenager, I was a dreamer, crafting imaginary stories and staging playful plays with friends. Always with the hope that one day, I would pen my own book. That dream blossomed into reality with my debut children's book, Silly Me. This delightful tale navigates the often bewildering world of love through a silly rhyme scheme and eye-catching illustrations, reminding kids that love is uniquely theirs to explore.

Silly Me sprouted from a poem I wrote when others made me feel foolish for the way I love. In the vibrant atmosphere of the 2023 Nationals Season 10 Poetry Publishing Workshop at the Community Literature Initiative (CLI) in Los Angeles, I embraced the challenge to transform that poem into a song. This playful adaptation led me to the enchanting realm of children's books. My book has taken center stage during live poetry nights in Erie, PA, and I’m thrilled to share that I plan to create an updated vocal Kindle version.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates by entering your email! And while I’m bubbling over with excitement about Silly Me, I’m also hard at work on my adult poetry book, Temple of Peace: A Journey of Healing Trauma in Poetry & Prose. For those who want to delve deeper, my Spoken Word Poetry and Poetry Art pages are full of my adult recovery poetry work.

Poetry is Life Running Through Our Veins

During my journey of healing trauma, I began to weave my experiences into poetry. Each word became a thread, stitching together the torn fabric of my confidence and voice. In the quiet moments, I discovered that poetry was a lantern, illuminating the darkest corners of my heart where pain lingered and hidden truths resided.

With every stanza, I began to omit what no longer served me, discarding burdens like old shoes tossed aside. Speaking my truth transformed me; it was the match striking the flame, igniting a fire that fueled my healing. As I shared my work, I felt the weight lift, granting a voice to the wounds I had carried in silence, breathing life into the shadows of my past.

I invite you to explore, reflect, and perhaps find a piece of your own journey within these verses.
